Jen the Jogger This was one of the very first songs I ever heard Heather perform. This version is most like that one. But I love all the songs! Favorite track: Nightstand Drawer.

Fifty Lines 04:18
You, you always come from the tip of my tongue. You, you always hang out in the back of my mind. You, you always appear in the corner of my eye. You, you're a smile on the street passing by. You, you're a wink you're a wave, you say hello & goodbye all at the same time. Oh and you only spend a moment in plain sight, You only let my say you every fifty lines, And you know I'll be here waiting for you all through the night, Cuz you can have me when you want. You can have me when you want... My cells are spirit soldiers waiting in formation. Waiting for your order, waiting for you sign, Waiting for your message, waiting in line. You, you're a whisper, you're a dream. You, you're a leaf floating down a stream. You, you're a sunset, you're a bird, you have a habit of fading into the sky. You can have me when you want...

I got a heart, I got a brain, I got a pocket full of pocket-change. I got a friend, I got a plan, I got a sandbox full of sand. I got a firefly in a jar, I got a couple hundred miles left on my car. I got a heart, I got a brian, I got a pocket full of pocket-change. And I'll trade my comfort for time, time, time, time. I'll trade what's familiar for time, time, time, time. I'll trade in my jewelry for time, time, time, time. And I'll trade my comfort for time, time, time, time. I got a heart, I got a brain, I got a pocket full of pocket-change. I got a friend, I got a plan, I got a sandbox full of sand. And we will build sand-castles and we don't care if it rains tomorrow, cuz we've got buckets, and we've got sunshine, and we've got a lifetime full of time. And I'll trade my comfort for time, time, time, time. I'll trade what's familiar for time, time, time, time. I'll trade in my benefits for time, time, time, time. And I'll trade my comfort for time, time, time, time.

Impermanence 03:17
I know, I know, I know, I know that you've gotta, you've got to go. I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know that you've gotta, you've got to go. I know, I know, I know. A couple says goodbye to a sunset, A mother says goodbye to her son, A flower says goodbye to a honeybee, Two says goodbye to one. I know, I know, I know, I know that you've gotta, you've got to go. I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know that you've gotta, you've got to go. I know, I know, I know. A leader says goodbye to a follower, An arrow says goodbye to a bow, An old man says goodbye to his eyesight, Yes says goodbye to no. I know, I know, I know... I know about... Impermanence... Beautiful impermanence! Impermanence... Sorrowful impermanence!

Watching the ocean makes salt-water fall from my eyes. And the Great Blue Heron soaring by gets me high. And the feeling of the wind on my skin makes me sigh. And watching the ocean makes salt-water fall from my eyes. Ah, and with my head tilted all the way back, I am sensing the depth of the sky. Tears run to the back of my neck and I cry for you to feel it too. I want you to feel it too. A smile from a child's little eyes makes me feel seen. And the scent of pine rising from the forest floor makes me feel clean. And the change in season makes this feel just like a dream. And a smile from a child's little eyes makes me feel seen. Ah, and with my head tilted all the way back, I am sensing the depth of the sky. Tears run to the back of my neck and I cry for you to feel it too. I want you to feel it too. Watching the ocean makes salt-water fall from my eyes. Feel it too.

In the backs of the stacks in my wallet there are savings-cards from grocery-stores that I, I don't shop at anymore. And on page eighty-seven of my email-history there are letters made of mystery made of words from friends that I don't know anymore. Ooh on the floors of my mind are piles of paper and when the wind comes rushing through an open window... I'm waiting in traffic and I suddenly see your face go flying by! Random random random memories. Dusty dusty dusty feelings. Sipping my coffee and I suddenly see you face go flying by... In the corners of the drawers in my Momma's home there are trinkets, and things we've out-grown, there are sentimental gadgets that just don't work anymore. And underneath the books in my piano-seat there are songs that are incomplete, there are melodies and rhythms that just didn't know where to go... Ooh on the floors of my mind are piles of paper and when the wind comes rushing through an open window... I'm waiting in a waiting room and I suddenly see your face go flying by! Random random random memories. Dusty dusty dusty feelings.

No Shortcuts 03:39
We were drivin in the country woods and we didn't know why we were there. Well maybe we were runnin from the big city or maybe we were runnin to the mountain air. And then we came upon a cabin of a diner and oh, how they did stare. I said "Hey... what's the quickest way to your Motel 6, out in these sticks?" Said "Hey... we're feelin kinda weary, we been drivin all day and we need a place to stay." And they said "Baby there aint no shortcuts on your way. Baby there aint no highways in these parts. You know baby gonna have to drive yourself down every little windy road, If you really wanna get to where you're goin." Well I was sittin on the therapist couch and I didn't know why I was there. Well maybe I was runnin from the big issues or maybe I was runnin to a listenin ear. And then I came upon a maze of emotion and oh, how I did fear. I said, "Hey... what's the quickest way out of this mess to that happiness?" Said "Hey... I'm feelin kinda weary, I been cryin all day and I need a little break." And they said "Baby there aint no shortcuts on your way. Baby there aint no highways in these parts. You know baby gonna have to drive yourself down every little windy road, If you really wanna get to where you're goin." Well I was sittin in the meditation hall and I didn't know why I was there. Well maybe I was runnin from the noise outside or maybe I was runnin to the stillness there. And then I came upon greed, hatred and delusion and oh, how I did fear. I said "Hey... what's the quickest way to freedom and love, how do I rise above?" Said "Hey... I'm feelin kinda weary I've been sittin all day with my mind in disarray." And they said "Baby there aint no shortcuts on your way. Baby there aint no highways in these parts. You know baby gonna have to drive yourself down every little windy road, If you really wanna get to where you're goin." If you really wanna get to where you're goin. If you really wanna get to where you're goin.

This was a secret song before I came along. Waiting to be written down, Waiting for a voice to give it sound, Waiting to be passed around like a basket of biscuits around a table of friends... This was a secret song before you came along. Waiting for an ear to greet it, Waiting for a long day to need it, Waiting for some souls to eat it like a basket of biscuits around a table of friends... And it's the only reason for a song to fall down to the earth. And it's the only reason for a song to be given a birth it's to be passed around... There was a secret song before the artist came along. waiting for him to wonder, like lightning waits for thunder, Waiting for the hunger of emptiness, Waiting for the emptiness of hunger. Here is my body And here is my breath Take this beating in my chest And take, take the rest! And it's the only reason for a song to pop out of the ground. And it's the only reason for a song to be given sound. it's to be passed around... This was a secret song before I came along. Waiting to be written down, Waiting for a voice to give it sound, Waiting to be passed around like a basket of biscuits around a table of friends... like a basket of biscuits around a table of friends...

You're a statue made of marble... I slowly circle you. I study your body, taking in your shape. I keep a thousand tiny pictures in my mind, For every corner that I come upon... But I'll never see, I'll never see All of you at once, all of you at once. I'll never see all of you at once. You're a fire in the night.... We sit and sing around you. I study your dance, your constant movement. I fill a thousand tiny notepads in my mind, For every moment that you burn..." But I'll never know, I'll never know All of your dance, all of your dance, All by heart, all by heart! I'll never see all of you at once.

Hey, hey baby I'm your picnic blanket, give your crumbs, give your drips, give your bugs. Hey, hey baby I'm your mud-room floor, give your street-dust, give your beach-sand, give your rain. Hey, hey baby I'm your nightstand drawer, give me your secrets, give me your longings, give me a chance to hold these things I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna sell it to the papers. No, and I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna spin em' into stories. And I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna use it as ammunition, no, I just wanna hold... Hey, hey baby you know you can talk to me tonight, don't lie awake, don't lie awake, don't lie awake, oh, and let me in, for heaven's sake. Hey, hey baby I'm your terra cotta pot, give me your basil, give me your daises, give me your dirt. Hey, hey baby I'm your couch cushion corners, give me your pop-corn, give me you post-its, give me your change.

The Hollow 04:22
Seen you, heard you, thought I knew you, Maybe I just don't know how to know you. There is a road to the hollow and I don't have the legs to follow and I'm wishing you could bring that hollow to me. Won't you bring it on down to me?

I had a womb. I had a womb of my own in my old home, I had a womb. I was in a constant state of falling. I heard, the ground was calling calling. oh and I knew... I had a room. I had a room of my own in my old home, I had a room. I lay underneath the sapphire ceiling and underneath the plastic star-glow. I drew a hundred pictures in an hour's time, the images poured in through my eyes. oh and I knew... I had a tomb. I had a tomb of my own in my old home, I had a tomb. I was in a constant state of falling. I read a hundred stories in an hour's time, the chapters poured in through my mind. oh and I knew... that it would happen again. And it would happen again. It would happen again.

Be Satisfied 02:58
And so the pharaoh went out on a mission to erase his father's name... his father's face. One thousand men, one thousand chisels. One hundred days, one hundred nights, and one man's pride. He took em' all for a ride, but he wasn't satisfied. She gave her apron to the wind in the back of a drop-top Cadillac, driving round a Hollywood bend. She moved from the diner right to the big-screen. But she moved on to stronger things than caffeine. She took herself for a ride, but she wasn't satisfied. Sid gave up everything he owned. He fasted down to skin and bone. He wouldn't move, he wouldn't speak. He tried to starve his mind but his body grew weak. He took himself for a ride but he wasn't satisfied. No need to go so far, No need to go so far, No need to go so far, Just come on, come on Come on, come on, be satisfied.

about

“Time & Pocket Change” is an album rich with quirks and passion. Rooted in indie-pop, T&PC is a play between the coffeehouse intimacy of folk and the dramatic narrative of opera. Unfettered vocals and guitar lines move through daring arrangements and enforce her "stop-you-dead" lyrics. (Rochester City News)
